The Drop in the Ocean Collection reflects the calmness and serenity that the sea instils in my soul. The waves that crash in rhythm with my heartbeat bring with them a tide of heavenly peace to my existence. The Intshebe design resembles a beard – a recurring symbol in African art that denotes maturity, wisdom and experience. I dedicate this collection to all the men in my life, my 3 brothers, my 3 brothers-in-law and my 3 sons. By merging cultural influences, we create afro-centric jewellery, that is modern beading constructions called Isimodeni. The African beadwork of the Intshebe design is blended with Turkish Oya crochet and metal discs from the Greek island of Santorini.
